Southwood Christian Church was birthed in the late-1970's by the Eastwood Christian Church in Dallas, Texas. It was their goal to plant an independent Christian Church in the Greenville area.
We are a body of Christians, but make no claims as to being the only Christians. We belong to no denominational group or organization. While we may worship, fellowship, minister, and serve with fellow-believers, our commitment is to Christ alone as the Head of the church.
Our body selects men to serve as spiritual leaders following the spiritual characteristics listed in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 in the New Testament. These Elders, appointed by God, are responsible to Christ for the protection, growth, and movement of the church body.
We also have men and women who serve as servant-ministers in accomplishing the work to which God has called us. It is our belief that ALL Christians should be involved in ministry to the body and to the world around us.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no man can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
