Dave Smith serves as the preaching minister at Southwood Christian Church. He came to Southwood in the Fall of 2003. He has been a vocational minister for twenty years and has served churches in Florida and here in Texas.
He finds the greatest joy in ministry when seeing someone come to accept Christ for the first time. He states, "When a person first realizes the joy of being forgiven of a lifetime of sin, it not only renews them, but it renews me; my sense of purpose, my spiritual calling, and my heart for the ministry all get recharged by watching how God's grace and unconditional love affects their life! It never gets monotonous."
He is a single guy, but widely regarded as one the greatest uncles in the world by Erin, Sean, Grace, Faith, Noah, Jonah, Abby, Jack and, coming soon (November 23, 2007) Katie. This group of individuals, by the way, are the most beautiful kids in the world (he has additional pictures if you need verification)
For fun, Dave likes to play guitar and piano, to watch and play many sports, and to spend as much time as he can with the aforementioned "most beautiful kids in the world."
Two things he can't stand to miss on television are a Miami Dolphins football game..."Christianity is my life, the Dolphins are my religion"...and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition..."because it is nice people doing things for nice people." He feels the three of the greatest inventions of the modern era are (in no particular order): the incandescent light, the automobile, and TiVo?
He recently released his first book, LIFE'S TOO SHORT TO BE AN UNDERDOG ... and other Spiritual Life Lessons I Learned from My Dog (no, that is not a joke). If you would like details about the book, visit the book site. or to order the book from the publisher, simply follow this link. |
